Happy Spring! The weather is warming up here in Arkansas and we are loving it! So many exciting things have happened since my last blog post. February started with a bang (literally- as explained below). We packed a bag and headed to our home city of Houston for Super Bowl Weekend 2017! It was a blast! We spent the weekend re-connecting with our Texas friends on Friday and Saturday, then Sunday was full of all sorts of Super Bowl activities in preparation for the "big game". The literal "bang" I referenced earlier came when our vehicle was vandalized in a parking lot while were we were participating in said Super Bowl festivities. It was lame and people are sometimes lame, but overall we made the best out of a crappy situation. We ended up watching the game at a local restaurant with some close friends and had a great time. All throughout the months of February and March, Ben and I had the privilege of reconnecting with many of our friends who still live in Arkansas. It was so great getting to see each of them and make new memories together. We love making new friends, but there is nothing like seeing old friends from your home state :) The past two months have also been full of wedding planning and wedding showers for Mallori and Dagan. In February, I went to New Orleans for Mallori's Bachelorette Party! We had a blast. We rented the cutest duplex in the city and trolley-ed our way all over the town. We happened to visit during Mardi Gras so I can check that off of my bucket list, for sure ;) My favorite night was when we dressed up, put on wigs, and went out to dinner with the wildest hair in sight! I'm often more serious than not, so it was a good time for me to "let my hair down". Ha! I really enjoyed being able to attend all of Mallori's wedding showers that were held over the past few weeks! I have also spent priceless time with her helping her prepare and plan for her big day! She has had an excellent support system around her during this time and it has been a real treat having a front row seat to all of the action. The biggest event that has transpired over the past few weeks is no doubt, Mallori and Dagan's wedding in Pensacola Beach, Florida. I cannot express how perfect the wedding weekend was! It was the most beautiful wedding that I have ever seen. And Mallori? There are no words to describe how perfect she looked. It was a wedding for the history books! Ben and I arrived in Florida on Friday, March 17th along with most of our family and wedding party. That evening we had fun at Seville Quarter dancing and listening to live music. Saturday was a beach day before rehearsal that night. Ben and I enjoyed a relaxing morning on the beach before sneaking away to see his childhood friends Tim and Rebekah. We had lunch with them at Flounder's and soaked up our time with them! *We haven't see Tim and Rebekah in four years. We meet up with them each time we are on the Gulf Coast* Later that evening, was the wedding rehearsal and rehearsal dinner. It was windy and cool, but it was still a very beautiful experience. The evening was filled with family and good food, as well as heartfelt toasts to the soon-to-be bride and groom. On Sunday (wedding day), everyone was in wedding mode. However, the day was still so relaxing. The bridal party started the day mid-morning with a bridal brunch before spending the afternoon getting ready for the wedding. The guys spent most of the day on the beach playing volleyball before getting into their suits. The weather could not have been more perfect- 75 degrees, sunshine, and a light wind. The ceremony went off without a hitch! The weather was perfect, Papaw was precious, Ben and I managed to sing a song, and so many people were in attendance. *Side note: My Papaw married Mallori and Dagan which is the most precious thing ever. He is not a minister and this was his first wedding* After the wedding, the reception kicked off with Mallori and Dagan's first dance, followed by lots of yummy food! The wedding party spent most of the night dancing and singing the night away before eventually all ending up in the pool. Mallori and Dagan were originally supposed to have a "sparkler send-off". However, one thing lead to another and with the wedding party in the pool, we declared it a "pool party send-off". I cannot wait to see the pictures and video of this! Mallori and Dagan sure know how to throw a party. Their wedding is one that I am sure no-one will ever forget! The day after the wedding, Ben went on a deep sea fishing trip with the boys and I hung back to relax and ride mopeds with the girls. It was great to have a day to recuperate from the wedding festivities. Tuesday morning, Ben and I planned to head out before the sun because he had to get all the way to Kansas City that evening for work. There is never a perfect time to get the stomach flu, but this day was really NOT ideal seeing as I had to be in the car for 8.5 hours and we could not make 85 million stops due to Ben's work schedule. Somehow I lived. I don't know how, but I made it. Barely. Ben made it back from Kansas City late on Wednesday night. It was just enough time to grab some Zzzz.s before heading out to Bali the next morning. I spent the rest of the week in bed, napping, reading, and hanging with my best friend Jessica! It's now down to the last few hours of my spring break and my heart is full. I'm ready to go back to work tomorrow with a renewed mind and healthy spirit. Cheers to spring finally arriving and cheers to the last week of March. I can't wait to see what adventures April will hold.
As always, thanks for reading. <3 Sunni
